Ski Skate Week Lake Tahoe

child skiing

Back in the 1980’s, schools in Marin introduced a winter break during President's Day. They extended the school year to accommodate a holiday week and called it Ski Week. Soon after, Mill Valley, Albany, San Rafael, West Contra Costa and Los Gatos school children joined in on the winter fun. It wasn't long before all of the local Tahoe schools offered kids the same week of skiing.

Today, Ski Skate Week has become one of the busiest ski weeks at Lake Tahoe. This year, it happens February 19th to the 27th. It has become a great opportunity for the entire family to enjoy a week of the world-class skiing that can only be found at Lake Tahoe.

If your children are new to skiing, there are several ski resorts where you can avoid the crowds. All offer individual and group lessons. In addition, these resorts offer a bit of charm for family skiing.

Tahoe Donner

Tahoe Donner is a perfect choice because it caters to new skiers. Parents can enjoy live music and XC ski clinics.
